Abstract

The implementation of collaborative approaches at all stages of a supply chain is increasingly being used to ensure that each member of the chain obtains better returns on their performance metrics. Achieving collaboration in a supply chain means to establish long-term and closer relationships, adjust and align actions, objectives, decisions, and share information among the members. All this in order to minimize costs and reduce inventory levels, develop and innovate products, comply with the order forms in the time required to deliver high quality products at fair prices, reaching in this way, individual and global goals of the members that make up the supply chain. This research conceptualizes collaboration in the supply chain, its importance and elements to consider in a collaborative architecture to generate, maintain and strengthen the collaborative approach in the supply chain. It also illustrates cases of industries that use collaborative supply chain with its suppliers, functional areas of business and customers.
