Abstract

Environmental Information Systems (EIS) have become in very important tool for its capacity of manipulating huge amounts and heterogeneous types of data, also for its capacity to integrate different technologies in a single computational tool. The main objective of this work was to design and develop an EIS which integrate modern approaches for integral environmental assessment, such as spatial databases, GIS capabilities, numerical modeling, and other technologies available for environmental assessment and water quality specifically. The application to the Minatitlan-Coatzacoalcos Industrial Park in Mexico is presented, where good results were obtained from the modeling carried out by the proposed EIS.
