Abstract

This project consisted in designing, manufacturing and testing a system which allows the obtaining of mechanical power from solar energy. Such a system is composed by a solar rays concentrator and a beta type Stirling engine. The solar concentrator is a bright surface parabolic dish, which harnesses and reflects the highest amount possible of solar light and focuses it into a reduced area. This concentrator increases the energy 103 times. The Stirling engine converts the thermal energy generated by the solar concentrator into mechanical power, which is about 8W.
