Abstract

This paper presents the design process, hardware / software prototype in an FPGA, using design methodologies that allow for the design, documentation, implementation in a hardware description language and verification by a development board for FPGA's. The methodology is used in the development of a remote terminal unit (RTU) which involves processor-based systems, communication interfaces, analog interfaces, digital interfaces and real- time operating systems.
