Abstract
Education is a semi-distance mode of education in which students share activities remotely with classroom activities. Normally, the student is sent by e-mail the study materials and he returns the solved exercises. Today is also used email and other Internet facilities. The Vice President UNEXPO Puerto Ordaz, in order to adapt to the characteristics of a globalized world where knowledge is generated and innovation of rapidly and spread quickly through the Internet, has proposed the creation and implementation of an environment virtual learning platform developed with LMS (Learning Management System) and Web Content Management System (CMS) based both on Free Software. Its main virtue is to allow edit the contents of a web site easily. It is an open source application programmed mostly in PHP under a GPL license (General Public License). The result is the development of a Web system where you can manage not only the course of a career in engineering is taught in the UNEXPO, but also allows the administration and management of the University in general.

La educación semi-presencial es una modalidad educativa en la que los estudiantes comparten actividades a distancia con actividades de aula. Normalmente, se envía al estudiante por correo electrónico el material de estudio y él devuelve los ejercicios resueltos. Hoy en día, se utiliza también el correo electrónico y otras posibilidades que ofrece Internet. La UNEXPO Vicerrectorado Puerto Ordaz, con la intención de adaptarse a las características de un mundo globalizado en el que el conocimiento se genera e innova de forma acelerada y se difunde con rapidez a través de la internet, ha planteado la creación e implementación de un entorno virtual de aprendizaje desarrollado con una plataforma LMS (Learning Management System) y un Gestor de Contenidos WEB (CMS) basado ambos en Software Libre. Entre sus principales virtudes está la de permitir editar el contenido de un sitio web de manera sencilla. Es una aplicación de código abierto programada mayoritariamente en PHP bajo una licencia GPL (General Public License). El resultado obtenido, es el desarrollo de una Sistema Web donde se puede administrar no solo los cursos de la carrera de ingeniería que se dicta en la UNEXPO, sino también, permite la administración y gestión de la Universidad en general.
