Abstract

In English:
The project is called "Operational improvement of the Chrysler Upper Pentastar line" and takes place in a manufacturing industry, which supply to the automotive industry. The project objective was to increase the productivity of the plant from 68% to 78% expressed by the metric OEE (overall equipment effectiveness). The main manufactured component is a family of "air filters and multiple admission" used in the upper part of the car engine. The methodology is a variant of lean manufacturing that consists of: 1) identifying the value, 2) mapping the flow of current value, 3) designing the flow of future value, 4) implement improvements, and 5) search for continuous improvement. A diagnosis revealed the greatest opportunity for improvement in the factor "availability" of the OEE structure, specifically in the reduction of downtime. Once the root causes were using tools such as Value Stream Map, 5W, and Analysis of Variance ANOVA, seven corrective actions were implemented for improvement. The project was successful, reaching an OEE of the 78.20%, also reported a valuable educational experience for students and a profit for the company where this University outreach was carried out.
