Abstract
In this article we present the results obtained after applying a questionnaire to a pilot group of 463 students of a public school in the country. The findings are of great interest because they show that exist a large percentage of students who have alternative conceptions, far from scientific models. This could mean that we must take urgent action, in collaboration with teachers of primary and secondary schools in the country, so as to develop strategies and facilities (processes, materials and teaching tools) to stimulate the construction of knowledge by students, encouraging them to recreate what they learn. This is urgent if we want to avoid deeper problems in our universities and higher education in the future. Astronomy could significantly help in the creation of such strategies and facilities. Of course, all this after checking the results found in this paper, applying the same questionnaire to a larger number, and statistically representative, of students across the country.

En el presente artículo exponemos los resultados obtenidos luego de haber aplicado una encuesta a un grupo piloto de 463 estudiantes de un colegio oficial del país. Los resultados encontrados son de gran interés pues muestran que exite un gran porcentaje de los estudiantes encuestados que presentan concepciones alternativas, muy alejadas de los modelos científicos. Esto podría implicar que se deben tomar iniciativas urgentes de colaboración con los maestros y profesores de escuelas primarias y colegios secundarios del país, de forma a establecer estrategias y facilidades (procedimientos, materiales y herramientas didácticas) que estimulen la construcción del conocimiento por parte de los estudiantes, incentivándolos a recrear lo que aprenden. Esto es de urgencia si queremos evitar problemas más profundos en nuestras Universidades y la educación superior en el futuro. La Astronomía podría ayudarnos significativamente en la creación de tales estrategias y facilidades. Claro está, todo esto luego de comprobar los resultados encontrados en este artículo, aplicando la misma encuesta a un número más amplio, y estadísticamente representativo, de estudiantes de todo el país.
