In 2008 the LACCEI Executive Board started the LACCEI founders awards are named after Dr Vish Prasad, founding president of LACCEI student research award and Dr Gustavo Roid founding executive student leadership award both form Director of LACCEI student leadership award.

The 2008 Board of Trustees established the LACCEI Founders Award in order of Dr. Vish Prasad, Founding President of LACCEI, and Dr. Gustavo Roig, Executive Director of LACCEI, who led the headquarters of LACCEI at Florida International University from 2003 to 2008.
